Ink and watercolour drawings
In 1993, The Plymouth Development Corporation was established by Michael Heseltine MP, to look at three areas of Plymouth, which included surplus sites owned by the Ministry of Defence. These were Mt Batten Peninsula, Royal William Yard, Stonehouse and Mount Wise, Devonport. Steen Mitchell Architects Ltd were appointed on several projects and also as principal planners for the whole of the Stonehouse Peninsula, to make over 100 planning applications. Part of our work included making drawings of all the existing buildings affected by the proposals. These original drawings will be handed over to the Plymouth City Archivist in due course. These drawings were freehand at 1.100 scale and I have now redrawn them in ink with more detail at approximately 1.200 scale which is more manageable for framing and hanging. Some have been rendered in watercolour. Both originals and limited edition giclee copies are available. Prints can be sized to suit clients requirements. I am currently working on other areas of Plymouth coastline which I find of interest. I am particularly interested in creating drawings representing the city in the past.
