Paintings in Acrylic paint

I have always been interested in buildings and structures in their landscape settings. As a retired Chartered Architect and planner the setting and orientation of any structure is so important to the user. I learned at school to work in oils and gouache and then ink and watercolour as my career developed. I have worked in acrylic over the last 10 years on a larger scale generally on canvas. This gives me the freedom to mix paints on the surface, rather like watercolour and to create and develop textures and colours not always associated with the traditionally perceived image. I may also take on commissions from clients who want a painting of their home or a particular view of the landscape.

I have tried to capture the frozen popular visitors spot in the winter snow and the bleakness of the scene. I was fascinated by the white of the snow and the warm colours of the dead bracken.

The heat of the day after the men have cleared the field was so heavy in the air. I tried to capture the dusty smell and colours of the harvested grain and stubble.
