Watercolour Collection
Watercolour is one of the most challenging mediums to work with. Some colours are heavily pigmented and granulate while others are bright and transparent. Mixing colours on paper is an exciting experiment every time and with experience you learn how each colour reacts with the water and the paper. I prefer to work on 300lb cold pressed NOT paper which tends to allow the paint and pigments to rest on the surface and not be absorbed by the paper. You can represent a scene quickly in watercolour but more detailed scenes require hours of work, building up layers to create the effect you want,
In a lot of my work I use Indian ink or waterproof ink pens to help to create the scene I am trying to capture. I also use waterproof coloured in pens, particularly sepia when I want a special effect. I truly love drawing in pencil and ink, and working in watercolour before or occasionally after, can be very rewarding.
